While Debra and the kids are away for the weekend, Ray accidentally causes the death of Ally's hamster, Pumpernickel. When Ray has to tell Ally about her pet's sudden passing, Debra insists on holding a proper burial, complete with heartfelt eulogies. However, Ray believes it's absurd to grieve over a pet in such a grand manner.
